Silk Painting - Flat Crepe
The "gutta resist" technique in Silk painting can be traced to the
Indonesian islands. Silk Painting, as we know it today, was
popularized approximately around the 1920s. Russian artists who
emigrated to Paris earned a living making exquisite men's Silk
handkerchiefs. Experimenting, they started painting on Silk and
the Art of silk painting was born. In 1965, Parisian artist Litza
Bain, came across some these techniques and combined all the
elements into a system of painting on Silk as an Art form.
The Silk Painted scarves in this section were created on Flat
Crepe, Charmeuse and China Silk Habotai Fabric.
